Pig Tits and Parsley Sauce

Slash your grocery bill by living sustainably

$1KYGS = my new challenge for 2018 is to spend just $1000 or less on groceries.

Pig Tits and Parsley Sauce is all about saving money, being healthy and lowering your impact on the planet just by aiming for more sustainable grocery shopping.  I slashed my grocery spend to $100 a week, then $75 and then when just me and Stevie were at home $35.  This is do-able with a veggie garden, making your own ‘stuff’ ie: cleaning products and cosmetics, and by simply making different choices with the things you buy.  Money is hard to earn yet we throw it away quite easily especially at the supermarket which has us trained up to spend   $50 everytime we go near the place. Anyway I have set myself the crazy low budget of $1K for a year which is just under $20 a week.  I am making my own bread – hey I am even making my own flour. I am learning heaps about making little bits of protein go further in a meal, and I even made my own pasta.  I am documenting this all on Facebook, so click the link and join me and 4600 others on the $1KYGS. PS:  I also wash my hair with baking soda – which hasn’t done it any harm – over the past 12 years…. you can read all about it in my book Pig Tits and Parsley Sauce available in the online shop on this site.

  1. I have the book but yet to implement all suggestions, but am practising frugal shopping. A pack of meat balls, a packet of spaghetti and a jar of HOME MADE PASTA SAUCE from veg I grow and I have 4 meals plus left over uncooked spaghetti for later use
